Why Moving Fast with AI Shouldn’t Mean Sacrificing Safety

Ivan Cohen, former CEO of software company Autessa, has written about the gap between enterprise companies adopting AI in the mid-market market and mid-scale companies, where companies with larger budgets and smaller teams lack the resources and expertise to manage the implementation of AI. He argues that the companies with the biggest budgets and larger teams are often being squeezed for the time due to their small start-ups' small-scale AI infrastructure. He suggests that while companies with bigger budgets are doing the most advanced level of AI, companies without the same level of enterprise-level infrastructure are losing ground. Cohen argues that moving fast with AI should not necessarily sacrifice safety or move safely. Autessa was founded as a platform designed for AI, not a point solution. The company's approach to AI is different from traditional AI-enabled software, which involves integrating existing software with a chat interface and integrating AI agents into legacy systems. The platform also includes a single pane of glass to show which models are being used, which allows teams to see which data is being processed and how data is flowing, and which processes are processed.
