Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a close ally of President Donald Trump, conceded defeat to opposition leader and head of the center-right Tisza party, Péter Magyar, who is expected to secure a two-thirds majority in parliament. This victory is likely to significantly shift Hungary's relationship with the European Union, which has often been at odds with Orbán. Magyyar plans to work more closely with the EU than his predecessor, stating that his party won 3.3 million votes, the largest number for any one political party in Hungary’s history.
