South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa downplays reports of French G7 snub amid US pressure claims

France, which holds the presidency of the Group of Seven (G7), has announced it will host leaders from South Korea, India, Brazil, and Kenya at its annual summit in Évian-les-Bains. South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, dismissed reports of a snub, stating that South Africa has not attended every G7 summit and that if they do not attend the June summit, it should be no surprise. The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, stated that his country had opted for a "streamlined G7" and had chosen Kenya instead of the expected snub.
