Nexstar Tells Judge Aspects Of Tegna Merger "Cannot Be Reversed"

Nexstar has stated that certain aspects of the merger between Tegna and Nexstar that "cannot be reversed" due to a temporary restraining order from a U.S. District Judge Troy Nunley. The judge placed a 14-day freeze on the merger and set a hearing for April 7 to consider a preliminary injunction. In a filing, Nexstar's legal team stated that the restraining order created immediate operational harm to both companies and could lead to regulatory conflicts and a governance vacuum. The merger, which will create a broadcast giant with 259 stations reaching about 80% of the country, was approved by the FCC and did not face challenges.
