Ryusuke Hamaguchi's film, All of a Sudden, is a work about caring for one another at the Cannes Film Festival. The film, which premiered in competition at the festival, stars French-Belgian actor Virginie Efira as Marie-Lou, the director of a care home for the elderly in Paris. Marie-Louis is devoted to Humanitude, which involves cultivating special communication skills and ensuring that each patient is treated with care and respect. However, training and implementation are costly and time-consuming, and Marie-L's facility is struggling as it is. She meets an elderly actor, Gorô, his teenage grandson Tomoki, and an experimental-theater director named Mari, who is dying of cancer. The movie is described as a heartfelt act of advocacy and requires patience from viewers. Despite its three-hour runtime, All Of a S sudden is not expected to be released without warning.
