The New York Mets are set to play in 2026, with several key storylines expected to unfold. Freddy Peralta has been brought in to be the starting rotation's ace, Nolan McLean, and Clay Holmes are expected to be a reliable mid-tier starter. However, Kodai Senga's performance has been inconsistent when he is healthy. David Peterson, the lone lefty in the rotation, is expected to start as the sole lefty. Sean Manaea is also expected to return from his injury and potentially create a six-man rotation. The first year of Juan Soto's 15-year deal with the Mets was one of the best all-around seasons in franchise history. Despite the departures of Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo, Stearns believes the team has enough power to compete.
