The scam involves individuals claiming to be UAPD Chief Scott Thurmond and claiming to have received a warrant for their arrest. The scammers may demand payment through mobile payment apps like Cash App or instruct victims to log into a website with sensitive information. UAPD has confirmed that it will not be required to provide payment for fines or request personal information.
