How Iran’s cheap drones are changing warfare

Iran's cheap one-way attack drones, like the Shahed-136, are being used as a substitute for a cruise missile and are also used to target American air defense radars and government buildings. This could pose a significant threat to American aircraft carriers, as well as critical infrastructure used for oil and gas. The author argues that the United States needs to invest more in these capabilities. He also notes that the US used its first precise mass system, the LUCAS drone, against Iran. This is in contrast to Iran's extensive military arsenal, which was a pioneer in developing low-cost, long-range weapons. However, the author suggests that while smaller states and militant groups can launch more accurate precision strikes, it is not enough for the US.
