Bickerstaff and Jamahl Mosley, the longtime assistant coach of the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic, have been friends since their days at the summer development camp of Tim Grgurich, where they were introduced as a mentor at Grg Camp in Las Vegas. The camp, which also served as a pipeline for up-and-coming coaches, was where J.B.'Bickerstaff became close to Mosley and his family. The two men are currently facing each other in the first round of the playoffs for the second time in three years. Despite this, there is no contact between them during the series, a mutually agreed-upon choice.
