The housing arm of the Northwest Arkansas Council, Groundwork, is expanding its reach statewide to address laws related to housing at the state level ahead of the 2027 legislative session. The organization is focusing on policies such as allowing for modular homes, which cost less than traditional houses and are more durable than traditional mobile homes, as well as land bank property. The expansion comes after Groundwork helped secure a state law allowing property owners to have accessory dwelling units like small separate apartments in 2025. The group has also added two members to its staff, bringing its full-time staff to five. The goal is to hear from stakeholders about regulations or deregulations that would benefit housing needs.
