A man has died at the newly renovated Banorte Stadium, set to host the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony. The man fell to his death from the VIP box while attempting to jump from the second-level box seats to the first level. The Mexico City Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) is investigating the incident. The stadium has been renovated after receiving a $105 million loan from the bank Banondee. The 2026 opening ceremony will take place on June 11.
