Clyburn rips South Carolina redistricting push: ‘We cannot let them succeed’

Rep. Jim Clyburn, the lone Democrat representing South Carolina in the House, has criticized a push by Republicans to redraw their district lines in response to pressure from President Trump. Clyburn accused the Republicans of attempting to eliminate the state's only Democratic House district, which is currently occupied by a Democrat. If the state moves forward, it will likely give Republicans a 7-0 advantage. The state House has voted to leave the door open to drawing new congressional lines following a Supreme Court ruling that weakened a section of the Voting Rights Act.
