The Rhode Island Senate's chamber was officially dedicated to the late Senate President Dominick Ruggerio, who spent nearly a decade leading it before his death last year. The dedication was unveiled on the Senate floor with state leaders unveiling the plaque. Senators unanimously passed a bill introduced by Senate President Valarie Lawson to rename the chamber last June. Lawson introduced a separate resolution unanimously approved by the Senate to honor Ruggero. The Most Rev. Bruce Lewandowski, bishop of the Diocese of Providence, led the invocation at the start of the session on St. Joseph's Day.
