Donald Trump Tells Senators to Skip Easter and Instead Pass His SAVE America Act 'for Jesus'

President Donald Trump has urged Republican senators to cancel their Easter trips home for Easter and instead pass his SAVE America Act, which would impose new restrictions on voting. The bill would require millions of Americans to provide a passport or birth certificate to register to vote and present a photo ID to cast their ballot. Despite a bipartisan deal to fund DHS (ICE) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) being funded through a shutdown, Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., and Sen. Ted Cruz, who had crafted the bipartisan funding deal in the hope of securing paychecks to TSA agents who have been working without pay for over a month, but the president rejected it. Democrats oppose the SAVE Act over concerns that it would create barriers for millions of U.S. citizens attempting to register or cast their ballots.
