HBO Max’s Rooster co-creator Bill Lawrence has discussed the parallels between Danielle Deadwyler and Charly Clive's characters, Dylan (Dylan), and Katie (Charly Clive, who each face their own surprises in their lives. He highlighted the loneliness and shared it with the comedy ensemble's characters in their own ways. As of episode six, two cliffhanger situations have made things interesting for Dylan and for Steve Carell's Greg Russo, Maximo Salas' Tommy and Annie Mumolo's Cristle. The show is set to be in a claustrophobic fishbowl environment, which both characters are described as being intentionally lonely.
