The film is currently being produced through Patil’s Anahat Films and is selected for the 24th Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum. The story of ‘Selvi’ originated through Rathnakaumar's mother's illness, which influenced his vision for the film. The director connected the material to his own life and believes the film's themes could resonate with audiences across cultures.
