The 2026 World Baseball Classic has ended with a thrilling opening round, with Team USA moving on to the quarterfinals. Despite a loss to Italy, the team's fate was decided by Italy's victory over Mexico. Canada also advanced, winning Pool A and reaching its first quarterfinals since 2006. ESPN MLB experts have ranked the remaining teams in order to learn about their strengths and vulnerabilities. They also highlighted the importance of the Dominican team's celebration and ability to fight late in the game against Venezuela. The next match will be against Canada.
