Much-needed rain is predicted for the Charlotte region this weekend, bringing relief to ongoing drought conditions. Not all areas will see heavy rain, but most will see less than a half inch of rain. The rain will move into the region Friday night and become more widespread Saturday morning. The heaviest rain chances will occur Saturday morning, particularly south of I-85. Temperatures will be around 15 degrees below normal and temperatures could drop near freezing at higher elevations. The system will move out Sunday, with temperatures expected to remain cool throughout the day, but a warming trend will begin Monday with temperatures gradually rising. There is a slight chance another cold front could bring rain chances by midweek but confidence remains low.
