These 2026 midsize cars are top safety picks and they're under $30K

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced its 2026 Top Safety award winners, including the Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry. Both cars were given the highest designation of IIHS Top Safety Pick+. The Honda Accord was awarded the IIHS designation of Top Safety P. It is unclear whether these cars will be available for purchase. The Hyundai and Toyota Sonata, which start at $27,450 and uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, both earned "Good" grades for all crashworthiness categories. The Toyota and Honda Accord are among the most competitive options in their respective segments.
