Jerry Jones confident Cowboys can make playoff run with improved defense

The Dallas Cowboys entered the 2026 NFL free agency looking to improve their defense, which ranked last in defensive EPA per play in 2025. The team signed five defensive players and traded for veteran Green Bay Packers pass rusher Rashan Gary to bolster their defense. Additionally, the Cowboys acquired Otito Ogbonnia and Tyrus Wheat, and traded defensive tackles Osa Odighizuwa and Solomon Thomas to the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans. Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones expressed confidence in the team's ability to make a playoff run.
