Arizona State defensive end Clayton Smith, a 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds wide receiver, made the switch to the position during spring practice and spent the first three weeks there. The move to offense was unusual for a player such as Smith, who was named on Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks List” in 2025, ranks the strongest, fastest and most physical players in college football. Despite initially intending to leave ASU after the 2025 season, Smith was granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA after not doing much at Oklahoma for a season due to injuries. Coach Kenny Dillingham believes Smith can be a weapon if he learns the offense enough to use him as a weapon in certain situations. Despite not being a regular player for ASU, don't expect Smith to come out on offense during a game.
