Huntsville already in SPACECOM mix as relocation moves ahead

U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM) is moving towards Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, with the goal of having half of its personnel at Redstone by 2028. The move comes as a significant step forward for the organization's relocation, with Lt. Gen. Richard Zellmann addressing a crowd at GEOHuntsville, which aims to promote Huntsville as a hub for geospatial business and promote the geospacial economy in the region. He emphasized the need for STEM and space fluency in addition to traditional roles, and suggested that local universities or industry partners could help meet the workforce needs. Meanwhile, SPACECom Commander Gen. Stephen Whiting testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee that construction plans for its Redstone headquarters are moving forward, with a ribbon cutting in April on a top-secret SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility) capable of seating 80.
