Famous fruit stolen again from $6.2M artwork — why the thief is getting away with it

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan's "Comedian," a masterpiece by him, has been stolen from the Centre Pompidou-Metz museum in France. The theft comes one year after a gallery visitor discovered eating the banana that previously featured in the artwork. The museum has replaced the stolen banana with another banana and reported no irreversible damage. The banana has been replaced several times since its debut at Art Basel, where it sold for $120,000.
