Stewart had previously expressed her desire to return to the team, and Liberty general manager Jonathan Kolb expressed confidence in Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones would also return. Stewart's decision to leave Stewart off the protected list for free agency could be a crucial spot for the Liberty, given their deep roster. Stewart and Jones are eligible for a supermax contract worth a record-breaking $1.4 million due to the new collective bargaining agreement.
