Georgia GOP Governor Hopeful Linked To Company Importing Foreign Nurses Over Americans

Republican Georgia gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson's company, Jackson Healthcare, has been linked to a subsidiary, Avant Healthcare Professionals, which specializes in international recruitment and placement of clinical professionals in the United States. The company, which has a record of filing H-1B visa requests, allows employers to temporarily hire foreign workers in specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Avant also facilitates long-term matches between overseas healthcare workers and U.S. facilities. In 2023, two nurses from Jamaica and St. Thomas and the Grenadines filed a lawsuit against Avant in connection with EB-3 visas. The lawsuit alleges that Avant paid them less than their American counterparts and threatened to report nurses who breached their contracts to U.K. immigration officials. The settlement covered 5,219 nurses recruited via Avant.
