The House of Representatives has approved legislation to protect American companies abroad, which is pending a vote from Texas Congressman August Pfluger. The bill could result in sanctions for Mexico after the government closed the company's port and limestone quarry in 2023 and declared the land a Protected Natural Area two years later. The Mexican government maintains that the mining restrictions are due to the declaration of the "Felipe Carrillo Puerto" Protected National Area.
