Cold case bill gaining traction
Published on April 11, 2026.
The state legislature is introducing a bill that allows cold case families to request cold case assistance from the OSBI, allowing them to directly interact with the investigating agency. The bill is currently in the Senate and is on a good trajectory in the House. For instance, Chanda Bobbit has been waiting for justice in the death of her son, Blayne Davis, for 15 years. Dr. Maggie Zingman, who has been awaiting justice since 2004 for the murder of her daughter, has also been lobbying for the bill to pass. The legislation aims to help crack cold cases down the road, saving lives, money, and manpower.
