Southwest Airlines has updated its In-Flight Charger Policy to limit passengers to one portable charger per person, with each device required to be 100 watt-hours or less. The changes are intended to improve safety protocols and reduce risks of overheating or fire events involving lithium-ion batteries. The airline also prohibits the use of in-seat power outlets to recharge portable battery packs during flights. This move comes amid reports of an increase in battery-related incidents, including smoke, heat, and onboard fire events related to these devices.
