Governments to Back Struggling Aluminium Smelter in Return for $7 Billion Green Energy Push

The Queensland and federal governments will provide mining company Rio Tinto with a $2 billion boost in subsidies to support its North Queensland aluminium smelter, in exchange for $7 billion in green energy initiatives. The move comes amid concerns about the strain of refining facilities due to cheap Chinese commodities.
