Viktor Orban's problems undercut Trump's new world order

Hungary's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, is facing a tough reelection battle, with current polling averages showing his main rival, Péter Magyar, with a 15-point lead. The Heritage Foundation president, Kevin Roberts, believes that the country should be considered a model for modern statecraft, and that everyone can learn from it. Despite this, Orban's corruption, anti-democratic practices, and a cozy relationship with Vladimir Putin have led to isolation from the European Union. The E.U. has frozen aid to Hungary for several years and the economy is in poor shape, contracting 0.8% in 2023 and growing by only 0.5% over the following years. Despite these setbacks, Orán remains revered by authoritarians worldwide.
