The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival held a memorable first weekend, featuring performances by Jon Batiste, Irma Thomas & David Byrne. The festival, which runs from April 23-26 and May 3, had a positive vibe despite a recent arrest by a Florida man allegedly planning a mass shooting at Jazz Fest. The highlight of the event was a one-of-a-kind show featuring Batiste honoring New Orleans artists and their past and present. Despite the arrest of a man in Florida, Batiste and other performers included The Eagles, Trombone Shorty, Widespread Panic, Lainey Wilson, the Black Keys, Herbie Hancock and Earth, Wind & Fire.
