Health officials in the Biden administration identified an elevated risk for ischemic stroke in seniors taking Pfizer's COVID-19 booster shots, but instead pushed for "increase uptake" in these vulnerable groups. The Food and Drug Administration approved the Pfizer bio-enhanced booster on August 31, 2022, and by late October 2022, 14.4 million people 12 years and older had received the booster. Despite internal reports identifying hundreds of stroke cases and deaths, health officials continued to recommend that individuals over the age of 65 receive the bivalent booster. The Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations found these violations and accused the administration of downplaying the risk of myocarditis following COVID injections.
