Some Chicagoans are avoiding federal taxes in protest against President Trump's policies, citing the government's aggressive deportation efforts, support for Israel in the war in Gaza, and the U.S.-Israel war against Iran as reasons. Organizers have seen interest in the movement, which includes individuals who have not paid federal taxes since 1998. The reclassification of medical marijuana by the Trump administration will offer some Illinois weed companies a significant tax break and significantly increase the cost of cannabis research. The final wrestling shows at the historic Berwyn Eagles Club have been cancelled after more than 20 years. Despite a push by top state Democrats for a millionaires' tax amendment, Illinois will pass a 2028 tax amendment.
