The statement was made in response to criticism from fans and stated that Thomas had made a mistake by not reading the fine print and supporting causes against human trafficking and veterans. She also addressed an Instagram post falsely claiming that Michelle Obama is a transgender woman. Thomas had previously faced backlash for saying “all lives matter” in a 2017 interview about her feelings about the Black Lives Matter movement.
