Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking a Major League Baseball franchise for its Canadian city. The city's mayor, Ken Sim, plans to bring a motion to the Vancouver City Council to attract potential ownership groups interested in an expansion team. No taxpayer money is contemplated in the process. Salt Lake City and Nashville are considered the frontrunners for MLB expansion teams. If Vancouver emerges as a serious contender, it will face competition with Salt Lake and Portland. The Athletic's fan survey limited the choices to six cities that have expansion efforts underway.
