Vic and Marsha Steinglass purchased an abandoned shack in 1973, paying $58,500 for the property in Rockport, Maine. Despite its disrepair, the couple decided to create a legacy for their family and are now on the market for $5.2 million. The property, named "Duck Down," features an architecturally celebrated home as well as a separate beach house. The Steinglasses did almost all the work themselves, with a little input from a local architect. They hope the property will provide a lucrative source of wealth for their children and grandchildren.
