Business psychologist Peter Stewart, a business psychologist and managing partner at Stewart Leadership, has advised that a close colleague is a better choice for answering workplace questions such as "How do I ask my boss for a promotion?" or "What should I tell my colleague who's slowing down our project?" can be answered more accurately and helpfully by a trusted colleague, Stewart says. He recommends always asking them first.
