Holmes, McLean ready for intense Classic competition -- and to hang with Kersh

Clay Holmes and Nolan McLean, two pitchers from the Mets, have joined Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. Both players expressed their excitement about sharing a locker room with Clayton Kershaw, a three-time National League Cy Young Award winner and the 2014 NL Most Valuable Player. Holmes, who is entering his ninth Major League season and McLean's 44 days of big league service time, both agreed that sharing a clubhouse with Kershaw would be a cool thing. Holmes also expressed his admiration for Kershaw's desire to play on the team and said it would be cool to have him around. McLean expressed his appreciation for Holmes' mentor, calling him a "big mentor" and looking forward to the intense competition he will find during the WBC.
