John Galliano, the world's greatest couturier, has been announced as the new creative director of Zara. This follows the biggest creative director turnover ever in one year, with several notable designers including Dior, Chanel, Bottega Veneta, Maison Margiela, Versace, Loewe, Gucci, Balenciaga, Proenza Schouler, Alaia. Galliano was fired from Dior in 2011 after a video surfaced of him making antisemitic remarks at a Paris bar. He was effectively banished from the fashion industry but rebuffed by fashion entrepreneur Renzo Rosso who appointed him as creative director at Maison Martin MargielA in 2014. Zara's collaboration with Galliano is unique in that he spent two years reimagine existing designs and release new pieces twice a year.
