Fixing cars or pitching, Naperville North’s Brian Sokolnicki learns to keep calm and not ‘break more stuff’

Naperville North High School student Brian Sokolnicki has made his varsity debut this season for the Huskies, having previously started repairing and restoring vehicles. Despite a 1.18 ERA with five strikeouts in six innings across two appearances, coach Jim Chiappetta expressed excitement about his potential and readiness to see more. Sokolniki, who started at the JV level last year, has a four-pitch repertoire and is confident in his ability to throw first-pitches. He credits his success to his family's 2005 Ford Explorer, which has 136,000 miles.
