In his first public comments since becoming executive director of the NFL Players Association, JC Tretter, has stated that he would not negotiate with the NFL in short term due to the current current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) which runs until 2030. The current deal allows for the expansion of the regular season from 17 to 18 games and an increase in permissible international games from 10 per year to 16. However, the NFL and NFLPA can negotiate about any subject at any time. Tretters stated that they would not start negotiations until they were ready to start. He also commented on the potential for an accelerated timetable for negotiations, suggesting that the league may announce a comprehensive offer for an 18-game season and 16 international games already in place.
