China mum on Trump request for help in reopening Strait of Hormuz

China has not commented on President Trump's request for assistance in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which has been closed due to the Iran war. The closure of the Strait has resulted in a significant increase in oil and gas prices. On Sunday, Trump stated that he was in discussions with "about seven" countries regarding policing the Strait. The Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated their wish for the conflict to end and highlighted its economic effects. The president did not specify which countries his administration had reached out to, but noted they had contacted China and the United Kingdom.
