‘A wild idea’: Residents in Newburyport surprised after historical plaques stolen

Police in Newburyport, Massachusetts, are searching for the person or person responsible for stealing historic plaques from cemeteries and parks. The bronze plaques have been taken from the Old Hill Burying Ground, some dating back hundreds of years, and some have been removed from pillars at one of the entrances. The thieves also targeted the African American Section of the burying ground established in 1729. Similar crimes have also been reported in neighboring areas.
