The New York state Department of Transportation (DOT) has agreed to move the project into the five-year Highway/Bridge plan after the winter's weather exacerbated road conditions. The region's director, Richard Causin, agreed to start the project in 2028 and will use around $300,000 to install a contractor to fill potholes and maintain maintenance duties on five particularly bad portions of Middle Country Road, between Route 347 and Adirondack Drive. The bidding process for the resurfacing project will begin in December of 2026, with the winning bidder expected to maintain the roadway over the course of next winter. The remaining areas that are not being handled by the contractor will be managed by DOT personnel.
