Fort Lauderdale commissioners discuss $268 million proposal for new city hall

The city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is debating a $268 million proposal for a new city hall after its old building was severely damaged by flooding in 2023. The proposal includes a futuristic design and a cost of $24 million a year, which could add up to around $724 million over the next three decades. However, Commissioner Ben Sorenson has suggested delaying the vote to find other options.
