Redwood, a $6 billion startup, was founded by John Straubel, a visionary leader in energy and transportation who has a history of pursuing innovative ideas in the field of energy and transport. Prior to his early days at Tesla, he started building electric cars and was the internal champion for building the Supercharger network and battery factories. He also saw the potential to build energy storage for renewables using lithium-ion batteries, which he soon became widely accepted. Despite initial skepticism, Strauble successfully launched Redwood after Tesla reached the milestone of mass-producing the Model 3 and officially left Tesla in 2019 to begin launching the company. The company now has raised $2.25 billion from investors ranging from Goldman Sachs to Nvidia.
