Segway has launched the Xaber 300, a full-fledged electric dirt bike with a top speed of 60 mph and a 0-50 mph sprint in just 5.5 seconds. The bike, which weighs just 187 lb (85 kg), also features a 21 kW peak power output and a power-to-weight ratio of 0.25 kW/kg. Power comes from a 72V and 44Ah battery, built using Samsung 50S cells, and Segway claims up to 62 miles (100 km) of range in its lowest power mode, though this drops into the 30-ish mile ballpark (roughly 50 km) when riding harder in higher performance modes. Other features include multiple power modes, traction control, regen braking, and a “virtual electronic clutch” designed to simulate the feel of a traditional motorcycle. The Segway Xab 300 is set to go on sale from May 15 through authorized dealers.
