A special issue of Aster(ix) journal has been edited by music journalists Carina del Valle Schorske and Danielle Amir Jackson. The anthology, This Woman's Work, investigates women's work behind the scenes in hip hop and reggaeton. It includes interviews, reported features, industry critiques, poetry, and personal essays from writers influenced by this legacy. The conversation was conducted between Carina Del Valle and longtime music freelancer, editor, and fact-checker Sheila Maldonado, who both share an interest in non-stars in these genres. The article also includes an excerpt from a conversation between Delvalke and Maldonando that traces Maldontado's career and musical formation.
