Jim Furyk has been chosen as the U.S. Ryder Cup captain for the 2027 matches in Ireland, following Tiger Woods' arrest on suspicion of DUI. Furyk, who was the 2018 captain, would be the fourth U.K. captain to have a second chance dating back to 1979. The selection process was completed after Woods removed himself from competition following his arrest on March 27. The PGA of America set a soft deadline for Woods to decide if he wanted to be captain, and the backup plan was set to consider a list of candidates for the Ryder Cup committee if he chose not to be.
