The 3-year-old boy who was shot to death by his father, Gene Russell Bartnes, has been identified as Koltyn Wayne Bartnes. The cause of death was ruled a homicide and Bartnes died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is assisting the Becker County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
